Beware of Craiglist Scam
State-Wide MLS has now heard from several members that scammers may take the property listed for sale on MLS, and then list the property on Craigslist for rent at a minimum rental amount. The scammers hope to receive a deposit. All agents are encouraged to check Craigslist on a regular basis to ensure that their sellers are not inconvenienced by prospective renters looking at their property for sale.
If you suspect that a property posted for rent on craigslist may be part of a scam, please contact your local police department or contact Craigslist directly. Please email the details to abuse@craigslist.org. Be sure to include the URL (or 10-digit post ID number) in your message.
