In an effort to address growing complaints related to the existence of numerous off-market rental properties on RILiving.com, the State-Wide MLS Board of Directors recently voted to implement new advertising policies for rental property ads posted to our consumer website.
Effective Tuesday, June 29th:
- Although still renewable, the maximum ad duration time for an RILiving rental property will be reduced from 90 days to 30 days;
- A rental property ad's posted/renewal date will now be displayed;
- Members must remove a rental property ad from RILiving within 48 hours after that property becomes unavailable to prospective renters.
Failure to comply with this policy will result is a $50 fine and automatic withdrawal of that ad, escalating by an additional $50 for each subsequent property ad not in compliance with this policy.
Please Note: For those rental properties that require frequent, recurring and/or advanced ad placement (ex. seasonal, college, military), ads may be posted prior to renter vacancy only if the availability dates are included in the “Description” field.
